Beautiful Julia take 2 - Gold Coast Photographer

This weekend I met up with Helen. Andrew and the beautiful Miss Julia to take 2 on their newborn shoot. At 2 weeks Julia didn't want to sleep, at 4 weeks she was the same! However she was very happy to lie there and pose this time. And I must say I totally adore this session, I love the shots I got, and Helen, I hope you and Andrew love them as well.
Helen is a ladybug fan, something I did not know when she booked her session, yet coincidentally I made a "Do Not Open" sign out of ladybug paper for Helen's maternity session! So when I saw these ladybug wings, I had to get them for Miss Julia's newborn session. I am so glad I did!
Helen and Andrew, it was an absolute pleasure and I can't wait to capture Julia as she grows up - she is so beautiful, talk about making a girl clucky!

I photographed Cathy's sister in law's wedding a while a go and ever since we have talked about getting together for family photos :) We finally got together over the weekend and captured some beautiful family moments.

Carole contacted me about getting some family photos done while her mum was visiting from the UK, it sounds like Carole and her mum Rosemary have had a wonderful holiday together and I'm sure there will be plenty of tears when its time for Rosemary to head home, not just from the 2 of them but from Rosemary's grandsons as well, you can tell they have a lovely relationship :)

Beautiful Julia - Gold Coast Photographer

This week I had the delight of meeting the beautiful Miss Julia (pronounced more like French Julie). You may recognise her mum from this session. Beautiful Miss J was 8 days old when I met her and I envisioned lots of beautiful shots, but unfortunately Julia was not having a bar of it, so we didn't get any angelic sleeping shots (but will try again another day), don't let her fool you, she is not sleeping in any of these shots. Then the midwife arrived and she put on her most photogenic behaviour, so we got a few extra awake shots before I left.
Helen and Andrew, she is extremely beautiful (I had thoughts that she might be!!), hope these will do you untill we can make a time for another shoot, the rest of the gallery will be up soon.

Beautiful NZ wedding #2 - {Gold Coast Photographer}

As promised the 2nd installment of Martha and Lucas' wedding :)
Despite the rain we raved the beach, shoes off and had a lot of fun, we didn't have long as the only umbrella I brought with me, you see in the photos, somehow I managed to keep the camera kind of dry, it was worth it I think :)
A big thank you to Kylie Douglass who came and helped me out at the wedding, it was great to have an extra pair of hands :)
I love these photos, it was alot of fun to have a bit of a play when editing them, as you will see, I have done a few different things with a few of them, I love the effects :)
I was excited when I saw the 1st lot of photos, the way the circles have made a spiral makes me think of the Maori Koru -

The Maori Koru design is inspired by the New Zealand fern frond unfurling as it grows. It represents peace, tranquility, personal growth, positive change and awakening. It is associated with new life and harmony, so makes a wonderful gift for a new parent or child, newlyweds, or anyone starting on a new phase of their life.
Martha and Lucas incorporated the Koru into their wedding rings and had a beautiful Koru ornament on their table.

Beautiful NZ wedding #1 - {Gold Coast Photographer}

Facebook is an amazing thing, yes you will find me on there. Martha is one of the many school friends I have reconnected with, thanks to facebook and when she contacted me about wedding photos I very quickly became excited about the idea, not only was it chance to take gorgeous wedding photos, it was an awesome excuse to take my family back to New Zealand for a holiday.
The wedding was planned for 6.30 at night on the beach, at 1st this worried me (loss of light), but I soon remembered that6.30pm in NZ might as well be the middle of the day.
Apparently on January 16th the sun rose at 6.08am and set at 9.10pm, however we did not see it as it was grey all day, rainy and grey. This did not deter Martha and Lucas, the wedding was moved indoors and the greyest day became the most beautiful, loving, spiritual day.
Martha and her 3 beautiful girls walked in to the sound of an amazing tribal drum (which was beaten again at cake cutting), and I must admit, when Lucas came over and greated the girls with a kiss and gentle whispers, my heart melted and I teared up.
It was a truly beautiful wedding and I was so greatful to be part of it.
Becauseas always I want to share too many photos, there will be 2 blog post, 1 today, 1 tomorrow.

Baby Steps Antenatal Classes - {Gold Coast Photographer}

This year I am excited tobe part of a new venture :) Baby Steps Antenatal Education is offering private antenatal classes in the Brisbane region. I was asked if I would like to come to one of the 4 weekly sessions and offer mini maternity shoots to the couples attending the classes.
This week I had my 1st session and Sam has given me permission to show a couple of her photos.

Cradle Ceremony

This weekend, my family and I had the pleasure of being invited to an Indian "Cradle Ceremony", one of the Dr's at work is the very proud Grandmother of this baby boy, who unfortunately is not the star of my photos, despite the night being all about him, once the ceremony was over he was whisked away to sleep while the rest of us were treated to traditional dancing, singing and food. It was a fascinating night and I was in awe of all the culture, colour and joy. I didn't go with the intention of being a photographer, but I wanted to share some of my snapshots from the night :)

Love, Happiness, Laughter, Fun - part 1 - {Gold Coast Photographer}

This weekends wedding was all of the above and more! I had an awesome time capturing the awesome day of Lisa and Jace's wedding. The girls started the day at 5.30am at the hairdressers (Thank you Lisa for not wanting me there that early!!) 3 crazy bridesmaids had me laughing all day (see part 2 for a hilarious photo of them!). The beautiful wedding ceremony was held at St John's Lutheran Church, Eight Mile Plains , followed by a little fun in the local duck park and then off to Windaroo Cottage for a few more photos before the reception. I can't think of enough adjectives to describe the day, however I think I will make up for that by posting so many photos here, could resist and because there are so many I will split it into 2 posts, one now, one tomorrow :)
Lisa, you truly were a most stunning bride, a huge thank you to you and Jace for including me in your special day xxx

Somedays as a photographer you need to be a little inventive, especially when you have a 2 yr old who would rather do anything than have his photo taken :) This week I had the pleasure of catching up with Ros and her gorgeous boys, very alike in looks but different in personalities (or at least they were on the day when the strange lady with the big black thing came!). Little Braithe was more than happy to be in front of the camera giving me lots of smiles :) But Ethan would rather just go and play! SO we just went with it and Ros & Justin I hope you love how I have captured your beautiful boys.

Family is special - {Gold Coast Photographer}

This week in between catching hundreds of babies I found some time to head down to the beach and take some photos of my cousins. They are more like my neices than cousins as they are the same ages as my kids, and their mum (my Aunty) is far more like a sister to me, you know the kind of person that is always there, would be willing to give the shirt of her back if we needed it. I don't always get the chance to tell her how special she is to me and how much I appreciate how much she does for me and my family. All her support means so much to me and I am so grateful that she doesn't live too far away.

Gorgeous chubba bubba - {Gold Coast Photographer}

I have known Robyn for a long time and I know how thrilled she is to be a Grandma :) I was excited to go and photograph her beautiful grandson today, I didn't realise how much cuteness there would be though! Mr Hugh weighed in at just under 10lb when he was born 3 weeks ago, he is just totally adorable, totally squeezable.

Kym and I have been trying to arrange a photo shoot for so long now! Kym wanted some photos of her 5 children and originally we were looking for a rustic farm to do the photos, we finally decided to just go with the beach.
So we met up there today and as always it was fun :) It was an absolute delight to photograph these 5, it was nice to see siblings that were affectionate with one another!

During the weekend I had a lot of fun photographying this extended family. The littlest girl in these pictures you may recognise from some previous shoots, Miss Sophie's mum contacted me and asked if I could do a shoot for her family, and all her in laws. SO 7 adults and 3 kids later I'm sure you'll understand why I have posted such a big sneak peak.

Recently we spent the weekend on the northern beaches of Sydney, while my eldest competed in a national gymnastics competition. Being part of something likes gymnastics means you have a lot of friends that become like family. During this trip we spent a lot of time with one of the other families, their daughter and my daughter totally adore each other, its nice to see such beautiful bonds between the kids.
The weather was terrible. But finally on our last day we got to spend a bit of time in the son over at the beach.

I loved this session so much, I knew I would though!
I have known Tamsyn for a while and she looked stunning when she was pregnant with her 1st baby, so I was very keen to capture her with number 2. We finally got around to it, due any day now and looking absolutely amazing!
I have so many favorites from this session, here are a few of them, I think I might have to do another post with some more later in the week, with some of the more creatively processed ones.

Love was in the air - {Gold Coast Wedding Photographer}

When I received an email from Leisa asking to me to photograph her wedding I nearly jumped off my seat, I was so excited :) and surprised, I work with both Leisa and Glen and I must of been walking around with my head in the clouds as I was totally unaware of their upcoming wedding. Of course I said yes. I am so glad I was given the privilege to share their special day, what a beautiful day it was. Leisa looked absolutely breathtakingly beautiful (I'm sure Glen agrees with me) and their were many a damp eye during the ceremony, I will admit, even I teared up, especially when they said in their vows "I will not promise to love you because I have no say in it, it just happens" The wedding took place in the stunning hinterland location of Ruffles Lodge. It truly was a perfect day, I hope these photos do it justice.

Leisa and Glen, I wish you all the happiness and joy in the world, have a fabulous honeymoon, are you sure you don't want me to come and photograph it for you (they are off to Africa -SO jealous!!). I will be in touch when you get back.

During the weekend I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Nicole and Michael, I woke up to grey, overcast weather and was quite worried that their beautiful outdoors wedding was going to be rained out. Three times the cuteness! {Gold Coast Photographer}

Not long ago I met an amazing lady, who blew me away with how calm she was, even though she was expecting triplets! Her maternity shoot is here. This week I very excitedly got to meet them :) Born at just over 35 weeks, let me introduce Blayne, Annika (Annie) and Phoenix, these photos were taken when they were 5 weeks old, just 4 days after their due date.
A lovely photographer friend Danielle and I spent a long time, trying to get these 3 cuties to sleep in a quest to get the last photo, we can say YAY we did it (could not of done this without you D xx).
Might have to another post soon with some of the individual shots as well.
Kristy, I am so amazed by your calmness, you are going to be an awesome mum to these 3 beautiful babies. Thank you so much for having us spend the day. Can't wait to come back and see how their personalities develop.

Twice as nice - {Gold Coast Photographer}

This week I had the total pleasure of cuddling (and photography) beautiful twin girls. As adorable as they were they had decided they did not want to both sleep at the same time, and if one was awake it was far more fun to try and hit her sister rather than lie still for a photo :) So only a few twin photos, lots of ones of them on their own though.
Couldn't decide which ones to show so I thought it was a great chance to do up a couple of storyboards to show off some of my favs. I've also put up 2 of my favs that are a bit different to "normal" portraits.
Coralee, I hope the girls weren't too unsettled after I left. They are both beautiful and you are so amazing and calm, thank you for your patience :)

I'm not sure if Sharon chose this date specifically so Andrew would never forget it, if not, I think its a clever idea ;)
I had the joy of photographing Sharon & Andrew's wedding this week, a lovely small and intimate ceremony.
Sharon amazed me with her talent, not only did she make the cake (which had the most beautiful topper I have EVER seen) she also made her dress, WOW I was impressed.
I loved the way these 2 looked at each other, like I've said I'm a sucker for love. They were both beaming all day.

SURPRISE - {Gold Coast Photographer}

Sue approached me about capturing her 50th birthday in photos (Yes I do parties too!), I excitedly said yes.... then she told me a big secret that I had to keep to myself. Yes Sue was planning a big shindig for her 50th, but her and her partner Peter were surprising everyone and getting married as well. I'm a sucker for love, so this made it even more exciting for me. Sue, Peter & I hid away and watched as the guests arrived, and then the MC announced Sue, then told everyone the big surprise :) The rest of the night was filled with lots of laughter, dancing and love. Oh and to top it off, it was a purple party!

Happy Hunter - {Gold Coast Photographer}

What a gorgeous happy boy this little man was. So many cute photos it was hard to choose which ones to put up for a sneak peak. While full of smiles alot of the time, Hunter also was very serious at times, made me wonder what he was thinking about.
He wasn't quite sure about the whole cake smash idea, he thought the candle was the best part of the hold thing - and thats all he wanted to eat!

Sweet Chilli! - {Gold Coast Photography}

I love it when I get to meet the babies from maternity sessions, Yesterday I got to meet the sweet Miss Chilli, the final result of this maternity session. While Miss Chilli fought sleep she gave me some beautiful smiles and loved to be with her mum.

Sweet little Pixie - {Gold Coast Photographer}

Yesterday I went and revisited Lisa and Glen who I did a previous maternity session with. They have welcomed into the world the most beautiful little pixie - Emily.
The hardest thing with baby photos is a baby's temperament is so easily changed. Mis E was the cutest little button, happy to give me some gorgeous smiles to start with, then she decided that was it, didn't want to smile, didn't want to sleep, wasn't happy to play the game. So we cut the session short but still got some beautiful photos. My fav is the last one in the sneak peak.

Beach Fun - {Gold Coast Photographer}

This week I headed down to the beach with one of my best friends for a bit of sunset fun. Sheridan had seen the jumping photos I have on the wall of my kids and wanted something similar for her wall (the result is the last photo in this sneak peak! It was a lot of fun, I made them kiss lot (I have a habit of doing this!) and we got some great shots.

Not 1, not 2 but 3! - {Gold Coast Photographer}

Yesterday I was once again reminded how amazing us women are!! As a midwife I am often amazed at how lucky we are and how strong we are when it comes to childbirth. Yesterday's reminder came in the form of Kristie and her belly full of babies! How amazing is this beautiful belly - 33 weeks pregnant with triplets (and not a stretchmark in sight!), 2 boys and 1 girl, awww so exciting.
Kristie it was wonderful to photograph you, you are amazing and I love how you are so calm about this pregnancy. Can't wait to hear about the arrival of these 3 in the next couple of weeks.

On Saturday I had the absolute pleasure of capturing Sonia and Gavin's special day. Sonia is the loveliest person and it was so nice to part of her day, it was a very happy day and even Sonia said at one stage that her cheeks were sore from smiling so much, isn't that exactly how your wedding day should be. Sonia I hope your life with Gavin is filled with as much love, friendship, laughter and cheek aching smiles as Saturday was for everyone involved.

When Kasey contacted me about taking photos of her gorgeous Miss Charli, I knew it would be fun as Kasey is an artist and was very excited about the props she had been collecting for photos. Another beautiful family session today, I met Jane and Stuart and the gorgeous Jakob at their lovely home (can't wait to come back and see the finished result guys!). Mr Jake was so smiley from the start to finish, with a smile that would melt any heart. This little man looks like he is going to inherit his mum's beautiful dimples!

Ventured out to the beach this afternoon despite the wind, we were lucky enough to avoid afternoon storms as well. There I met the gorgeous Mika and her mum and dad. Miss Mika was a natural for the camera, we had fun.

I have decided to give up on the idea that my best friend will ever have kids, more chance of me having another baby, than of her making me an "Aunty" and I tell you the chances of me having another baby are pretty minimal! So when she told me she was going to have a furbaby I got very excited of the prospect of doing a newborn shoot! Today she brought her baby home and I had a wonderful time snapping some pics of him, introducing the beautiful Ty, an 8 week old cocker spaniel pup, isn't he devine!!

Just wanted to let everyone know that the 1/2 price specials I have been offering for the last 6 months are about to end. Come March I will be rolling out a new fee structure, as well as new packages. Today I had the fun job of taking some photos of 3 active boys, like most boys I think they would of rather being doing things other than getting their photos taken! At least they got to enjoy a swim as well as getting boring photos done. Taken at Currumbin rock pools, it was a gorgeous spot, will definitely be going back with the family.

Yesterday I photographed 2 beautiful ballerinas, it was alot of fun. I also did some family shots on their amazing property, where dad was born years ago. At the end of 2008 I had the total privilege of photography a beautiful home birth for a friend, it was an amazing experience and I was so excited to be included in Bee & Steve's amazing day. I also had the joy of going back when their little man was 3 days to do my 1st real newborn shot, he was such a good baby for me and a total pleasure to photograph. I'll be putting a call out soon for a few free newborn session so, so be sure to check back in February!

What a weekend! I had so much fun joining Lori & Damo on Saturday to capture their special day. Despite the weather not playing fair, it was an awesome day. We have just done a whirlwind trip to Canberra (photos to follow!) to cheer on my eldest son and his team mates. They competed in Gymnastics Australia National Team titles at the AIS. It was a team event but they also gave medals to the top 6 overall individual competitors.
The boys did absolutely awesome!! In team events they took out 1st place for overall, then on individual apparatuses they took 5 1sts and 1 3rd (out of 6 apparatus'). So some very happy boys and some very proud parents. To top it off my son placed 3rd out of the individual competitors. Wow I can't believe he came 3rd in a national competition!!

I was asked by one of my bosses, if I'd be interested in organising some art for the wall of our antenatal clinic. Of course I would!! So here is the final product (taken by phone camera)! I got 3 12x24inch mounts done, the mother and the baby are images of mine but as I had no father shots I put the call out to some friends and we ended up chosing an image by Fiona. They look fabulous!
I've also posted a card that I have put together ready for next year when I will be offering a bump to baby double session special. So stay tuned early next year for more on that.

Today I had a fun shoot at the beautiful Fingal Heads again. Nearly the whole family was there and I know I had fun. You guys have some beautiful kids, Miss Mia and Miss Layla are totally adorable, I hope Robert has a shot gun ready for when they get older! Especially if their cousin is anything to go by. And how beautiful are Grandma & Grandpa, hope my hubby and I are like them after 41 years!!

The Lovely Miss Sharli - {Gold Coast Photographer}

I last shot Miss Sharli when she was 7 weeks old, she did not want to sleep for me and it wasn't the most successful session ever. Today we planned to do some Christmas shots for mum and dad to put in the Chrissy cards, that's good, no sleeping needed! Miss S is now 6months old, she greeted me at the door with huge smiles and I thought WOOOHOOO, however once I pulled out the camera, Sharli saw it as a big horrible nasty thing, she cried everytime she looked at it. We still managed to get some lovely shots, and I finally got some sleeping ones!

I have a passion for pregnancy, birth and babies, that is why I became a midwife I guess. Lately I have seen some absolutely beautiful maternity and newborn pics which I thought I just had to mention. Naomi's images are totally breathtaking, I Love her black and whites, the clarity and detail she gets in her images is devine.
Naomi is definitely an inspiration to me this week :)
And because I have to have a photo, a baby shot which I have just had mounted for work (more details once they are hung!)

I finally got to photograph a good friends 3 beautiful daughters, I've been wanting to whisk these 3 away for awhile now. All 3 are stunning, curls and eyes to die for. One day I will stop calling the twins the wrong names!!
Going to split this into 2 posts as I can't chose only a few pics!

I've had a few inquiries about the products available from me. Now please take note that product photography is not my forte!! Below are some of the products I offer.

MINI ACCORDIONS

These are the most adorable mini albums, they come with your selection of 15 different photos. They are very popular. Making lovely keepsakes for proud parents, grandparents, bridesmaids etc, the possibilities are endless. Keep them in your pocket to show anyone and everyone or display them on your desk.
You can see the size in the photo next to the CD.

PRINTS

I offer prints of different sizes, regular sizes are 5x7, 8x10, 8x12 & 16x24, I can however pretty much do any print the size you want it.

MOUNTS

I highly recommend mounted prints especially for anything over 8x12. Prints are mounted on a 20mm foamcore (kind of like polystyrene), they come with a black or white edging and I think they look absolutely fabulous. I have just had 3 12x24 mounts done for work and they look awesome (photos to follow) Mounts are very lightweight, so great for posting and great for hanging, mine are just hung with 3M no mark hooks - too easy. These make a nice change from canvases. I do offer canvases as well but have no photos at the moment.

PHOTO TILES

These photo tile are something different, they come in various sizes and are mounted on board, you can choose how many photos you want and the colour of the back board. The ones above are 3 10x10cm and 1 single 20x20cm. They are really glossy and look good anywhere.

ALBUMS
I can make up albums to suit your needs, these make a lovely keepsake.

This weekend I discovered the beauty of Roma St Parkland, thanks so much to Col, who arranged for me to photograph his lovely family there. Definitely a fantastic spot. I had a great time trying to capture this family who kept smiling the whole time.

Canon photo5 competition

Canon runs a competition where they send you 5 items and you have to include them in a photo. This is the 1st year I have entered and I tried to think outside the square a bit!

So I've decided if I want to make a bit of a business out of this then I need to start somewhere! I am starting to do some portfolio building sessions, to get some practice in and to work out what people want. Things to work out......
What to offer.... print sizes? storyboards, albums, canvases?
Where to print?
What to charge for prints?
Need to get a website up, but am happy to start with a blog and work by word of mouth. Its pretty daunting so far lol.
